This very unique
clay tile is hand made by artisans in Mexico. It is made from river
clay and mixed with water hand kneaded, pressed, dried then cooked
in gas or wood kilns. It is a lengthy process and temperatures must
be kept constant. The coloring of the genuine Saltillo comes from
the natural clay and the ranges of color can be controlled by the
heat and the baking process. No one tile is alike. It is designed
in many shapes and sizes.
